One reason that OBIEE projects regularly languish between design and delivery is the product's historical lack of concrete lifecycle and deployment capabilities. Whether adopting manual lifecycle processes, or scripting complex deployments, these solutions usually yield mixed results, but always highlight one clear conclusion: we need change. With the newest release of OBIEE 12c, change has…

Oracle Database 12c includes lots of new functionality, some of which streamline management, improve capacity utilization, and increase overall storage performance. If you’re ready to shrink your footprint and improve your application environments, storage optimization will be a key skill set. Join Oracle Database experts Jim Czuprynski, Zero Defect Computing, and Kevin Jernigan, Oracle, for…

This seminar is designed to be a primer on the Oracle Database Diagnostic and Tuning Packs. These packs have powerful tools which are not only good for DBAs but they can also help application developers test, diagnose and tune their code. The Diagnostic Pack has tools that analyze performance at the database instance level and…

Oracle 12c In-Memory option is an industry innovation by introducing dual format architecture which allows database objects to be stored in columnar format.  This brings significant performance improvement of SQL in both OLAP and mixed workload environments.  Key In-Memory terminologies such as dual-format SGA architecture, In-Memory components 1MB pool and 64KB pool and their functionalities will be introduced.  Actual case study from Walgreens will be presented with dramatic performance improvement on analytical SQLs. Testing results have been measured with various criteria to demonstrate the effects of In-Memory option. Major In-Memory operations and their benefit will be described in the SQL execution plans. Learned lessons and the observed advantages and disadvantages from the In-Memory option will be summarized at the end.

Oracle virtual assemblies provide a great way to simply the deployment of enterprise-class multi-tier applications and their configuration dependencies. Oracle Virtual Assembly Builder 11gR1 can create Oracle virtual assembly packages by capturing the state of an installed application topology. Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c can deploy these assemblies in the cloud resulting in fully operational application…

Cloud database enables administrators to scale up and down the resource usage according to the business requirements. Oracle 12c renders multi-tenancy to manage multiple pluggable databases within a multi-tenant container database. In an Exadata, at the compute nodes, the resource manager controls the resources among pluggable databases, and all this resource management is trickled down…

In the seven years since Oracle released the Real Application Testing (RAT) suite as part of release 11.1.0.7, this powerful set of diagnostic tools has received significant upgrades. This session will illustrate how the latest version of RAT in Oracle Database 12.1.0.2 is still a primary contender in the battle to identify potential bottlenecks in application performance before any database is migrated / upgraded to a newer version. We will offer some real-world examples of how to best to leverage RAT’s several new features in 12.1.0.2, including Workload Intelligence, Workload Scale-Up, and Consolidated Database Replay, as well as its original key features – Database Capture and Replay (DBCR) and SQL Performance Analyzer (SPA) -to avoid unnecessary application performance regression, especially when transitioning to Oracle Database 12c.

"As part of Boeing's private cloud initiative, the database backup process through RMAN has been completely automated using OEM 12c library jobs, named credentials, dynamic groups and EMCLI scripts. The resulting configuration is extremely scalable as there are few practical limits on the number of databases that can be included. There are only the main…
